Iconic American Motorcycle manufacturer, Harley-Davidson will be bringing their 2017 models to India soon. Along with the updated line-up, the company is also planning to bring the new Roadster in the country, probably in November this year. The design of the Roadster is inspired from classic racing motorcycle from the 1950s and ‘60s. Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson Director of styling said, “Since its introduction in 1957, the Harley-Davidson Sportster has proved capable of constant reinvention, and the Roadster writes a new chapter in that story.” He added: “We’ve watched our customers take the Sportster in so many different directions. The Roadster is a mash-up of styling genres, but the intent was to build a rider’s motorcycle, a Sportster that’s lean and powerful and connects the rider to the road.”

Compared to Forty-Eight, the seat height of the Roadster is relatively low at 785mm, and the wheelbase of the Roadster is reduced with a shorter swingarm for nimble handling. Moreover, the handlebar is lowered for a slammed drag-style look. Some other unique features includes, blacked-out engine with gray air cleaner, dual shorty exhaust with chrome muffler, blacked-out headlight, “walnut” gas tank, bobber style fender, and side-mount license plate holder.

Important highlight of this motorcycle is that it’s the first Harley-Davidson to feature upside-down front forks. Harley-Davidson says that the new suspension set-up on the Roadster offers more travel for more comfort as compared to the other Sportster bikes. Harley-Davidson Roadster is powered by a 1,200cc Evolution V-twin engine that churns out 103Nm of peak torque at 3,750rpm.
