2017 Honda CBR1000RR Launched in India

The superbike category this year has witnessed major development. Now, all these new 2017 models are starting to come to Indian shores. This time it’s the Honda CBR1000RR and the CBR1000RR SP. The pricing of the CBR1000RR has been kept at Rs 17.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, the Price of the tricked out CBR1000 SP is still not announced, but expect it to be around Rs 20 lakh. Both the motorcycles will be imported via CBU route and dealers have started taking the bookings.

The new CBR1000RR was revealed at the 2016 EICMA motorcycle show. It is a completely re-engineered bike and the company says that it’s around 90 different from its predecessor. Honda has worked hard to scrape 15kgs out of the older bike and added 11 PS of power. This translates to 14% improved power to weight ratio. The CBR1000RR 998cc engine churns out 191 PS of power at 13,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. However, the SP variant get an extra 1 Nm of torque.

Last year’s bike was specially lagging behind the competition in the electronic aids department. Now, this model takes care of that as it comes with 5-axis Inertial Measuring Unit (IMU) that is linked to ABS, 9 level  Honda Selectable Torque Control traction control, Rear lift control, Throttle by wire and wheelie control. Above that, there are three riding modes- Street, Circuit and Mechanic; 5-levels of power delivery and three level of engine braking control. It is equipped with full-colour TFT display, Tokico four piston front brakes, Showa 43mm Big piston Fork and a monoshock at the rear.

What is extra on the CBR1000RR SP? Ohlins semi-active suspension, Ohlins 43mm NIX30 front forks, Ohlins TTX36 monoshock, quickshifter with downshift assist, Lighter Lithium-ion battery, and Brembo brakes
