2017 Triumph Street Triple S Launched at Rs 8.5 lakh

One of the most exciting motorcycle launches of 2017 happened today. Triumph launched the next-generation Street Triple 765 S in India at an introductory ex-showroom, Delhi price of Rs 8.5 lakh. We informed you earlier when the bookings for this bike were opened up a few days before. Internationally, the new Street Triple is sold in 3 variants- S, R, and RS. In India, the R and RS variants will be added by the 2017-end.

As you can guess from the name itself, the Street Triple 765 gets a completely new 765cc, three-cylinder engine. This motor in the ‘S’ variant develops 113PS of power at 11,250rpm and 73Nm of peak torque at 10,421rpm. The torque figure is around 30% more than the outgoing model. Adding the crown to this engine is the news that this engine will be used in Moto2 race bikes 2019 onwards- read more about it by clicking here.

Revised Chassis-

The Street Triple rides on high-quality suspension components. This includes Showa 41mm upside-down front forks and Showa mono-shock at the rear with piggyback reservoir. The braking duties are handled by 310mm dual disc configuration at the front with Nissin callipers and 220mm single disc at the rear with Brembo single-pot calliper. The bike also gets a new gullwing rear swingarm this said to offer better high-speed stability.

Lighter than Before-

Weighing at 166kg (Dry weight), the company claims that this is the lightest motorcycle in its category. This means that it’s around 2kg lighter that the previous model in spite of having a bigger engine and complying with Euro-4 emission norms.

In India, the Street Triple S is offered in two colours- Diablo Red and Phantom Black (Metalic). Its competition included names like Kawasaki Z900, Aprilia Shiver 900, Ducati Monster 821, and Ducati Monster 797. All these motorcycles are extremely capable and fairly new in the market. Therefore, the high-performance naked bike segment is quite hot right now.
