2018 Honda Goldwing Launched in India (Bookings Open)

2018 Honda Goldwing has been launched in India. The Goldwing will come in two variants and the pricing starts from Rs 26.85 lakh (ex-showroom). The Honda Goldwing will feature a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This system was also seen on the Honda Africa Twin adventure bike. In spite of several upgrades over the outgoing model, the pricing of 2018 Honda Goldwing is nearly unchanged. This means that Goldwing will be a great contender for BMW GTL tourer and Harley Davidson’s Street Glide Special. The bookings for the Goldwing have commenced at Honda Wing-World dealerships in Delhi and Mumbai.

The latest Honda Goldwing was first unveiled at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. The design language is carried over from the outgoing model. The Goldwing always stood for having unimaginable and the best of the comfort features in a motorcycle. The outgoing model had a chiller box, music system, and even a reverse gear. Now, the new model also features Apple CarPlay feature on the music system, electronically adjustable windscreen, smart key, 7-inch colour information display, and LED lights.

Honda Goldwing is powered by a 1,833cc six-cylinder engine where cylinders are placed in a horizontally opposed position. It develops 130PS of power and 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 170 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The outgoing Goldwing had a 2-valve per cylinder setup, while the new model features 4-valves per cylinder. Only Automatic variants are being offered in India. Here, the engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The transmission also comes with low speed ‘Walking mode’ where one can manoeuvre the motorcycle in tight parking while walking along with it. Like the outgoing model, new Goldwing also has a reverse gear. Other features integrated with the gearbox are Hill Start Assist, Cruise Control, and four riding modes- Tour, Sport, Econ, and Rain.

This 3rd-generation Honda Goldwing utilises a all-new chassis. The frame is lighter and sturdier than before. Most importantly, the 2018 Goldwing gets a double-wishbone front suspension. The preload settings for the rear suspension can be altered electronically via 7-inch display. The motorcycle also features ABS and D-CBS (dual-combined braking system).
