Ducati Brand Not For Sale!

If you have been keeping track of the motorcycle industry, you must be waiting to know who will buy the Ducati brand from VW Group. There was news in the industry that VW is thinking of selling Ducati to recoup the losses from the Dieselgate emissions scandal that affected around 11 million vehicles. Now, names of prominent motorcycle manufacturers like Harley-Davidson, Bajaj, Hero and Royal Enfield regularly came up as candidates who were supposedly in talks with VW for Ducati purchase.

To put an end to this mystery, Reuters reported that VW’s supervisory board that consists of an equal split between corporate management and workforce representative, don’t see the need to sell Ducati.”The employee representatives on Volkswagen’s supervisory board will neither approve a sale of Ducati, nor one of Renk or MAN Diesel & Turbo,” a spokesman for VW group’s works council told Reuters. “Everyone who can read the VW half-year results should know: We don’t need money and our subsidiaries are not up for grabs by bargain hunters.”

Ducati brand has grown tremendously after it was bought by VW Group. And its popularity and sales continue to grow especially in Asia-Pacific region. Of course, no one would like to part away with a growing asset. In India itself, Ducati is planning to open five new dealerships.
