Triumph Speed Triple Mechanicals-

The motorcycle is based around a twin-spar frame. For the suspension, there are Showa 43mm Upside-Down forks at the front, and Showa Monoshock with 130mm travel at the rear. The braking system comprises of 320mm semi-floating discs with Brembo mono-block callipers at the front and a 255mm single disc with Nissin calliper at the rear. Under the tank, we get a 1050cc, three-cylinder engine that makes 140PS of max power and 112 Nm of peak torque. The engine now complies with the Euro-4 emission norms.

Design and Looks-

Lookwise, the design language of the bike is carried over. But it does get edgier headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights, LED indicator lights, bar-end rear-view mirrors, more sculpted fuel tank, and matte black twin underseat exhausts. The rider display is now semi-digital, not like the Street Triple that gets a full TFT digital display. We can’t say which one is better because although TFT display looks cool it’s missing the emotional feel that the analogue tachometer gives.

Speed Triple Rider Electronic Aids-

The outgoing Speed Triple was lacking in the electronic rider aids department. And when the competition got loaded with electronic trickery, the Speed Triple started to feel old. Now, engineers have sorted that out and we get the proper rider-assist package. This includes ride-by-wire, traction control, switchable ABS, slipper clutch, and 4 riding modes (Rain, Road, Sport, Track).

Triumph Speed Triple Price & Competition- When launched in India, the pricing is expected to be around Rs 12.5 Lakh ex-showroom. It will compete with Ducati Monster 1200, Suzuki GSX-S1000, Kawasaki Z1000, BMW S1000R, and Honda CB1000
