New Ducati Monster 821 launched in India with Competitive Pricing

Ducati has relaunched the Monster 821 naked motorcycle in India with some minor updates. The pricing for this new Monster 821 is cut by almost Rs 1 lakh and now it costs Rs 9.51 (ex-showroom). Previously introduced in 2016, the Monster 821 became one of the most popular Ducati offerings in India. What has changed for the 2018 Monster 821?

In its 2018 form, the Ducati Monster 821 is now BS-IV compliant and gets few styling upgrades. Not to forget the new Yellow paint option. With this new model, Ducati took some inspiration from the original M900 Monster that completes 25 year since its introduction. Some new styling changes includes a reshaped fuel tank that is borrowed from the Monster 1200, Inspired from the original Monster the new 821 gets a lock on its tank. The tail section went on a diet and it now thinner. The headlights got full LED treatment. The display console is now full TFT digital unit with an optional Multimedia system.

Engine and Gearbox

2018 Ducati Monster 821 derives its power from the same 821 cc L-Twin engine but due to stringent emission norms, the power is slightly reduced. Now this engine produces 110.5PS of power at 9250rpm( 2PS less than predecessor) and 86 Nm of torque at 7750 rpm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with optional up and down quick-shifter (Enables gearchanges without pulling clutch).

Chassis Components and Safety Features

The new Ducati Monster 821 uses the same cycle components like its predecessor. The front suspension is a 43mm USD (upside down) Forks and the rear uses a Monoshock. The stopping power comes from Brembo 320mm dual discs front brakes and a single 245mm disc brake at the rear. The ABS feature comes as a standard. Other safety features comprise of eight level Traction Control, Three switchable riding modes-Sport, Urban, and Touring.
