Himlayan is one of a kind Royal Enfield that fall into adventure touring category. High-end adventure touring bikes like Triumph Tiger, BMW GS 1200, and Honda Africa Twin are finding make takers in India. However, there was nothing in the market for those looking for an affordable adventure tourer that can take some beating on harsh Indian back roads. Royal Enfield Himalayan pulled huge interests innitially and people apprieciated this bold offering.

Initial Quality Issues with RE Himalayan-

That said, not everything was good with the Himalayan. Soon after the introduction, multiple complaints started coming out from the mouth of customers. Some were leaking fuel, some had gearbox issues, electrical issues, etc.

People who buy bikes like Himalayan, ride them in some of the harshest conditions where reliability of the motorcycle is everything. Moreover, these guys like to associate themselves with likeminded bikers. So it’s obvious that if some issue crops up in the bike, that information spreads like fire in their community. All this negative PR was starting to hurt the ‘Himalayan’ brand. And it needed some serious intervention from the mannufacturer.

Apart from replacing the carburettor with the EFI unit, we hope that Royal Enfield has done some homework and payed heed to the quality issues aswell.
