Triumph Tiger 1200 Launched at Rs 17 Lakhs

The adventure motorcycles are gaining popularity in India. Hence, Triumph has launched its range-topping adventure tourer, the Tiger 1200. Triumph Tiger 1200 comes just three months after the Tiger 800 was launched. Tiger 1200 is offered in just one Xcx variant that is priced at Rs 17 lakh ex-showroom. The Xcx variant of the Tiger 1200 is biased toward being an off-roader. In the international markets however, the Tiger 1200 comes with a choice of six different variants. Compared to the previous-gen model, the new Tiger 1200 has over 100 changes. The Explorer branding from the previous bike is no longer there. Aesthetically, the new Tiger 1200 has an almost similar silhouette but it does feature all-led lights, keyless start and full-TFT instrumentation. Other features that motorcycle tourers would love included cruise control and electronically height adjustable windscreen. There is a ton of electronic riding aids like semi-balancing semi-active suspension, quickshifter that works both on upshifts and downshifts, cornering ABS, switchable traction control, cornering lights, and hill hold. The updates to the engine and frame resulted in around 5kg weight loss.

For the engine, the Tiger 1200 gets a 1215cc inline triple motor that makes 141 PS of power at 9350 rpm and 122 Nm of torque at 7600 rpm. The power is delivered to the rear wheels via driveshaft. The gearbox is a 6-Speed constant mesh unit. There are 5 different riding modes- Road, Rain, Sport, Off-Road, and Off-Road Pro (turns off all riding aids)

BMW R1200 GS is the biggest competitor of Tiger 1200

Looking at the competition in the Indian market, Triumph Tiger 1200 will go against the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro (price- Rs 18.04 lakh ex-showroom) and BMW R 1200 GS (Price Rs 17.1 lakh ex-showroom).
