2016 Elantra Launched at Rs 12.99 Lakh

After disrupting the country’s compact SUV market, Hyundai has launched the much awaited 2016 Elantra. The pricing of this midsize sedan starts from Rs 12.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.19 lakhs for the top variant (ex-showroom, Delhi). The customers will have five variants to choose from- S, SX, SX AT, SX(O), SX(O) AT. Additional to that there are two engine options- 2.0-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel. The new Elantra will compete with cars like Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Octavia and Chevrolet Cruze.

The chic design and styling of the new Elantra are heavily worked upon to incorporate the fluidic design language. Unlike the previous model, the new Elantra looks edgy and bold. The company claims that the new generation Elantra is constructed using 53 percent Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) that helps to improve the structural rigidity. Dimensionwise, Elantra is 4,610mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,450mm in height and gets a 2,700mm wheelbase; making is 20mm longer and 25mm wider than the previous generation model.

The 2016 Hyundai Elantra is offered with five colour options- Marina Blue, Polar White, Sleek Silver, Phantom Black, and Passion Red. Some of the design highlights on the exterior include projector headlamps, LED position lights, chrome radiator grille, body colour ORVMs and door handles, door pocket lights and more. The comfort and safety features include – sunroof, side and curtain airbags, front ventilated seats, speed sensing auto door lock, ABS and EBD as standard, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and rear parking sensor. Moreover, Hyundai has also loaded the car with several convenience features like drive mode select, hands-free smart trunk, auto cruise control, keyless entry with smart key, armrest for both front and rear seats, and USB/AUX-IN/Bluetooth connectivity to name a few. The variants above SX comes with touchscreen infotainment system loaded with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The new-gen Hyundai Elantra is powered by an all-new 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 1.6-litre diesel motor. The petrol engine makes a class-leading 150bhp and develops a peak torque of 192Nm whereas, the oil burner produces 126bhp of max power and develops a peak torque of 260Nm. Transmission options for both the engines include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic unit. The auto box is offered with both SX and SX (O) variants of the petrol trim and with top-of-the-line SX (O) variant of the diesel trim.
