2019 Mercedes GLE Spied, Coming to India Next Year
Mercedes-Benz is on a roll lately, unveiling one model after another. The upcoming 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE has been spied and posted on Instagram by ‘frankfurtcarspotter’. This updated 2019 Mercedes GLE is expected to be showcased at the Paris Motor Show in early October 2018. Mercedes Unveiled its all-electric SUV ECQ last week.
This GLE captured in the spyshot is said to be the test mule that arrived back in Germany after hot weather testing session in the Middle East.
Although the test mule had some camouflage, it’s apparent that it’s very close to production-spec. The silohouette of the new GLE will be completely different from the currently available GLE. Its gets some design hints from the now discontinued M-Class SUV.
The 2019 Mercedes GLE was codenamed W167. It uses MHA rear wheel drive underpinnings. The test mule looks like a high-end variant with sporty bodykit, twin exhaust, and big alloy rims.
It could be the AMG version too. The 2019 Mercedes AMG GLE 63 and GLE 63 S will be powered by a 4.0-litre Biturbo V8 engine that puts out 572 PS and 612 PS of power respectively.
Apart from AMG, the workhorse variants with be powered by a range of four and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. These engines will utilize a 9-speed automatic gearbox to send power to the wheels. Customer will also be offered an optional air suspension.
Being a modern SUV, the new GLE will get plethora or terrain management system for offroading capability. Interestingly, the 2019 GLE will also use a 48-volt electrical system to allow electric drivetrain to be integrated in future. Reports suggest that a plug-in hybrid variant will also accompany the GLE range.

The cabin space of the current GLE looks outdated compared to the latest Mercedes-Bens models. The new GLE will fix this problem by getting up to speed. The interiors images of the 2019 Mercedes GLE was leaked last month.
It will get features like 10.25-inch touchscreen with Mercedes-Benz User Experience software, three-spoke steering wheel, leather wrapped grab handles in the center console, and unique air-vent design.
2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE will compete with cars like BMW X5, Audi Q7, Lexus RX 350, and Land Rover Evoque and Discovery.
The new Mercedes GLE is expected to be launched in India during the second half of 2019. The first launch of 2019 is V-Class MPV for Mercedes India.
