Datsun Exporting Made-in-India GO+ to South Africa

Past year, Nissan has seen tremendous growth in India and the company said that it’s “on track to become a major player in Indian market”. Now, the company will be exporting the Datsun GO+ to South Africa. In South Africa, the sales of the Datsun GO+ began on 31st August 2016. The Datsun GO+ is manufactured in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant. This bold move of exporting the ‘Made in India’ car is in sync with the government’s Make-in-India initiative.

Guillaume Sicard, president of operations at Nissan India said: “We are delighted to see the Datsun GO+, manufactured with pride at the Renault-Alliance plant in Chennai, introduced for sale in South Africa. Following on the success of the India-built Datsun GO’s launch in the small car segment in South Africa, the GO+ is another example of our Make-in-India models making a mark in overseas markets. Our exports continue to help Nissan build its presence in India and grow the local economy.”

Renault-Nissan’s Chennai plant became operational in 2010, and around 6,20,000 cars have been exported from this factory. The produce from this facility is exported to 106 markets around the world. Datsun GO, Datsun GO+, Nissan Sunny, and Datsun redi-GO are some of the latest cars added to the export portfolio.

The production capacity of the Renault-Nissan Chennai plant is around 4,80,000 cars per year. This factory has created over 40,000 direct and indirect jobs. Made in India vehicles are gaining popularity all around the globe, thanks to manufacturers like these. Multi-national companies are now realising the benefits of manufacturing in India, And this is definitely a win-win situation.
