Ford Ecosport S Launching on 14th May with Ecoboost Engine

The facelifted Ford Ecosport was launched last year and continued racking sales for the company. However, some people were disappointed because Ford discontinued the 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine from the options. A 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated Dragon Petrol engine was introduced in place of the Ecoboost engine. This Dragon series engine makes 123 PS of power and 150 Nm of torque.

The 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine is a superb engine which has received many prestigious awards (Ecoboost engine wins engine of the year award). It produced 125 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque in the first-gen Ecosport. Inspite of being powerful, it managed to deliver 18.88 Km/l of fuel efficiency. That said, it had to be revved to build boost and that compromised a little bit of city drivability. In that sense, the new 1.5-litre petrol is better because it builds torque at lower rpms.

The enthusiast,  however, understood the value that Ecoboost engine- it could be exciting to drive and also deliver good fuel efficiency when driven with a light foot. Now, there is a good news for them as Ford is bringing back the Ecoboost engine to the Ecosport and the launch date is 14th May 2018. This engine will be offered with a new sport variant- Ecosport S. Ford Ecosport S will also be offered with a diesel 1.5-litre engine that makes 100 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque.

As we have seen with the other Ford sport variant models like Aspire S and Figo S, the Ecosport S will feature slightly stiffer suspension and more direct steering feel for engaging driving experience. Other cosmetics elements that will stand out on the Ecosport S are the new front grille, foglamps, refreshed headlights with HID bulb, 17-inch alloy wheels, and contrasting black roof. Inside, there will be colour elements on the dashboard, new instrument cluster, and not to forget, a sunroof.

On 14th May, accompanying the Ecosport S will be another special edition called the Signature edition. This Special edition will focus more towards the luxury and will be fully loaded with features. It will feature bigger 17-inch alloys, rear spoiler, signature branding, and a new Blue paint. The Signature edition will get blue inserts on the dashboard and inside door panels, blue stitching on the seats. The safety equipment will also be updated with an additional ESP (electronic stability program), and hill-start assist. The Signature edition will not get the Ecoboost petrol engine.
