Ford Freestyle Launched with Value-for-Money Pricing

The much awaited Ford Freestyle has finally launched in India. This cross-hatch has been priced competitively between Rs 5.09 lakh and goes till Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Ford Freestyle is available in four variants Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, and Titanium+. All these variants can be had with petrol or diesel engine. In the Indian market, Freestyle competes with Hyundai i20 Active, Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross, and Maruti Suzuki Ignis. (Ford launches car vending machine in China)

Engine and Gearbox

Ford Freestyle comes with an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 3-cylinder petrol engine makes 98 PS of power and 120 Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre diesel engine puts out 100 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Ford has not launched automatic gearbox with Freestyle, but it might do so in future. Talking of fuel efficiency, the petrol engine gives 19 Kmpl and the diesel Freestyle delivers 24.4 Kmpl (ARAI tested figures).

Design

As you can guess by now, Ford Freestyle is based on the Ford Figo platform. For the cross-hatch rugged look it gets black plastic claddings, front bumper skid plate, new front and rear bumper, and bigger 15-inch rims. The ground clearance is increased to 190mm. The rugged persona continues inside also as the interiors are updated with a different colour scheme. It also gets a new HD touchscreen unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety

In terms of safety, you get ABS, traction control, and dual airbag at the front.
