Launched in India: 2016 Jaguar XF, Pricing Starts at Rs 49.50 lakh

2016 Jaguar XF takes many design cues from the F-Type sports car

Jaguar has launched the new 2016 XF executive sedan in the country. The Jaguar XF will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The pricing of the XF falls in the range of Rs 49.50 lakh to Rs 61.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Looks- The new XF retains its trademark silhouette of a sedan, but gets some fresh elements that make it sportier and exciting. Some of the noticeable changes are, LED headlamps with J-blade daytime running lights, muscular shoulder line, and a new set of tail lights gets the design inspiration from the F-Type coupe. Overall the new design embraces the elegance of the outgoing model and adds a hint of aggression.

Interiors- Inside, the jaguar’s uncluttered design is dominant. The steering wheel seems to be lifted from the F-type sports car. In the middle of the dashboard is the latest 12.3-inch TFT touch screen. Sitting right above it are the aircon vents that are now static instead of rotary type in the outgoing model. Jaguar is now utilising a quad-core processor for the company’s new In Control Touch interface for a more intuitive passenger-car interaction. The seat design is also altered. The company claims that “Compared with the previous generation XF, rear ‘knee-room’ has increased by 24 mm, making it among the best in class. Rear ‘leg-room’ has increased by 15 mm.”

Powertrain- The XF sedan is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The ‘Ingenium’ series 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 180PS of max power at 4,000rpm and 430Nm of peak torque between 1,750 to 2,500 rpm. While the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine makes 240PS of max power at 5,500rpm and 340Nm of peak torque between 1,750 to 2,000rpm. Both these engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The latest Jaguar XF will compete with cars like Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, and the upcoming Volvo S90 sedan.
