Mahindra Electric Launches e2oPlus, Priced at Rs 5.46 lakh
Mahindra & Mahindra has introduced the e2oPlus electric hatchback with a price tag of Rs 5.46 lakh. The car will be available in four variants- P2 (commercial), P4, P6, and P8. The e2oPlus price benefits from the state subsidy and FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles) government scheme. The e2oPlus also becomes the first model to sport the ‘Mahindra Electric’ branding.
Powering the top-spec P8 variant is the 41PS electric motor that punches out 91Nm of peak torque. Whereas, the rest of the models are powered by a 25PS electric motor that makes 70Nm of peak torque. The car utilises 2-Speed, direct drive transmission (Automatic).
The P8 e2oPlus stores its power in the larger 210Ah lithium-ion battery pack (Read all about different types of automotive batteries). This battery pack can store enough electricity for 140km range and can be recharged fully in 9 hours through a single phase 3kW 16-amp charger. Rest of the variants with smaller battery packs can be recharged in just 6-hours.
The e2oPlus delivers decent performance for the city commute. The P8 variant is capable of 0-60kmph time of 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 85kmph. Dimension wise, the e2oPlus has grown drastically compared to the two-door e2o. It’s 310mm longer, 61mm wider and 25mm taller. Apart from this, the wheelbase has grown by 300mm.
Mahesh Babu, the CEO of Mahindra Electric, said on the occasion: “Our consumer is an urban city dweller who commutes daily. He wants a comfortable drive and not hassled by regular gear shifting and low maintenance costs. The cities have become congested and driving speeds have reduced a lot. Parking spaces have reduced too. We are working on building smart cities in collaboration with govt. Hence, we thought of a car which is city smart, reduces driving hassles, is affordable for longer commutes and solves other daily transportation problems. Hence, the e2oPlus was born.”
