Mahindra XUV700 SUV Showcasing at AutoExpo

Mahindra will showcase the 2018 SsangYong Rexton at the upcoming AutoExpo. And this model will be rebranded and rebadged as Mahindra XUV700. Some reports also suggest that Rexton name will also be retained and the SUV will be called the Mahindra Rexton XUV700. This is a smart move from Mahindra and Rexton is a very competitive SUV but the low brand awareness of SsangYong might hurt the sales if launched under that brand.

In contrast, Mahindra is a household name in the Indian auto industry. Therefore, people would be much more comfortable to take interest in the new Rexton. Not to say that SsangYong is a bad brand, it’s just that it has yet to establish itself in India. Read Mahindra’s plan to go full-electric

As the name suggests, the XUV700 will sit right above the XUV500 in the Mahindra lineup. As the new Rexton was launched recently in several international markets, we know what to expect of this car. Mahindra XUV700 will compete with SUVs like Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, and VW Tiguan.

Designwise, the Mahindra Rexton will be identical to the international model. Albeit the revised grille with Mahindra logo and probably fresh alloy wheel design. In the Interior, Mahindra might offer a slightly different equipment levels to keep the price competitive. Mahindra XUV700 will house a 2.2-litre e-XDi220 LET diesel engine that makes 190PS of power and 420 Nm of torque. There is a possibility of two transmission options: 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic torque-converter.
