Mercedes-Benz EQC Electric Car Spied Testing

Mercedes EQ range and EQ SUV are the fully electric concept cars that German maker plans to send into mass production by end of 2019. This also means that these Mercedes electric cars are being tested in the real world driving conditions before the production starts. (Our previous report on Mercedes EQC Concept Car)

A Youtuber caught the Mercedes-Benz EQ C waiting at a traffic junction (video at the bottom of this page). He recorded all this and gave us a great view of the Mercedes EQC test mule. The production-spec model will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October this year and mark the start of Mercedes lineup of electric cars.

As can be seen in the video, the EQ SUV is a full-size SUV with a sleek GLS like silhouette. It looks like that EQ range of cars will have completely different front grille design. The headlights are full LED daytime running light, just like what you would expect. The bumper design looks kind of odd, so maybe the production car’s bumpers will look more finished.

Mercedes EQ Class will be based on an all-new platform that will be dedicated to EV vehicles only. The powertrain setup is still a mystery, but the Concept car had two electric motors, one on the front axle and another at the rear. That setup made a cumulative power of 410 PS and 700 Nm of torque. It was using a 70 kWh battery that gave it the driving range of 500 km and delivered a 0-100 kph time of under 5 seconds. Looking at this performance, It’s likely that Mercedes will offer similar powertrain setup in the production car. Mahindra is bringing Electric Hypercar

Mercedes EQC will be manufactured in Vance, Alabama, USA. When launched, it will get competition from upcoming Jaguar I-Pace, Audi E-Tron, Tesla Model X and BMW iX3. Mercedes EQC lineup of electric cars which includes SUVs and Sedans will have 10 different models by 2020.
