Made-in-India Mercedes-Benz GLC Launched , Prices Dropped

Mercedes-Benz GLC pricing starts at Rs 47.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

For the past few years, the German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz India has been striving hard to localise its manufacturing. Now the GLC SUV comes as a ninth Mercedes-Benz product to be locally manufactured at its facility in Chakan, Pune. This milestone has also made Mercedes-Benz to boast about the largest locally manufactured line-up in India.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC was introduced about four months back in India, and the high demand from the market encouraged the company to start local manufacturing. The made-in-India Mercedes-Benz GLC is available in three variants- GLC 220D 4MATIC Style, GLC 220D 4MATIC Sport, and GLC 300 4MATIC Sport.

  • GLC 220D 4MATIC Sport- Rs 51.5 lakh
  • GLC 300 4MATIC Sport- 51.9 lakh

According to the new Mercedes-Benz nomenclature, the GLC is based on the C-Class sedan. However, it’s considerably longer, wider and taller. The interiors and the exterior design elements are quite similar to the C-Class.

Inside, the car has a 7-inch infotainment system, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, and the upholstery contrasting with the exterior paint colour. Overall, the GLC’s interiors look quite sporty for an SUV. The increased exterior dimensions mean that the cabin space is also more than the C-Class sedan. The Mercedes-Benz GLC competes with the SUVs like BMW X3, Volvo XC60, and Audi Q5 (new Q5 coming to India next year). The GLC is also the first car in its segment to come with specialised service packages for 10 years with unlimited mileage.
