People often perceive pickup trucks to be crude and something that American brands like Ford or Chevrolet would make. German-Japanese Partnership

The X-Class is the result of a partnership between Mercedes and Renault-Nissan. In fact, it is based on the highly popular Nissan Navara Pickup truck. So does that mean that Mercedes has just slapped on three pointed star on the grill and called it their own? No, the German manufacturer claims that they have made significant modifications in several areas to make it worthy of Mercedes-Benz Badge. This includes retuned suspension, stiffened areas of the ladder frame chassis, faster steering ratio, and design changes.

Why do Mercedes think that Pickup truck is a good market for them? The company believes that X-Class will create a new segment of premium Pickup vehicles. The company saw the SUVs evolving from tough and purposeful vehicles to being comfortable family cars. Mercedes is seeing the same opportunity with the pickup trucks.
