New BMW 5-Series Launching in India on 29th June
BMW’s highly popular sedan, 5-Series will come to India in its newer avatar on 29th June. The bookings for the 7th-generation 5-Series are officially open. Like the BMW 7-Series, this is also expected to set new benchmarks for technology in a car. Dimension-wise, the new 5-Series is 36mm longer, 6mm wider and 2mm taller. The wheelbase is also upped by 7mm.
Some of the gadgetries inside the cabin include LCD instrumentation, touchscreen infotainment unit, gesture controls, four-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, and the remote parking function party trick that allows you to move the car forward or backwards from outside with the key fob itself.
In India, the BMW 5-Series will come with three engine options- 530i (petrol), 520d (diesel), and 530d (diesel). The inline-four cylinder turbo petrol engine churns out 252PS of power and 350Nm of torque. 520d’s motor pumps out 190PS of power and 400Nm of torque. And the 530d makes 265PS of power and 620Nm of torque. All the variants will come with ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.
The new BMW 5-Series looks like an excellent package. However, we do have some serious competition against it- Latest long wheelbase Mercedes E220, Volvo S90, Audi A6, and the Jaguar XF. The pricing of the new BMW 5-Series is expected to start from Rs 50 lakh.
