Next-Gen Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Coming Soon

Wagon R is coming back. Maruti Wagon R was first introduced in 1998 and has remained one of the popular cars in company’s line-up. Now, the 2018 Wagon R is getting ready to be launched in India. The test mules of this new tall boy hatchback are running around the country and the development is in final stages. Over the year the WagonR has remained relatively unchanged. But the new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is going to have new exterior design and all new interior as well. Wagon R sits close to Celerio X in the Maruti Line-up

This next-gen Wagon R is already on sale in the Japanese market. Therefore, we know what to expect from it. The India-spec will definitely be different than the international model but only slightly. WagonR is still the most practical hatchback in the company’s line-up, and if they can make it more attractive then they will have a winner.

New Wagon R will be based on the new platform called the TECT Architecture (Total Effective Control Technology). This should make the new car lighter and safer. The engine and gearbox setup is expected to remain the same. But it can’t be confirmed. Presently, WagonR comes with a 1.0-litre petrol engine with 5-Speed manual or an AMT gearbox.

The Japanese-spec of the WagonR comes with a small 660cc engine that makes 53 Ps of power. Accompanying the engine is a 3.2 Ps electric motor. The Stingray variant comes with a 65 Ps engine. All the engine can only be had with a CVT automatic transmission. Sporty Baleno RS priced at Rs 8.69 lakh

2018 Maruti Wagon R India Launch Date

As the new WagonR is still undergoing testing, the company has not disclosed the launch date. However, the Indian festive season is the time when most of the car launches happen. That’s mostly because the market is most excited to buy a car during this time. We think that the next-generation WagonR will be launched around October 2018.

New Maruti Wagon R Price in India

Presently, the Maruti WagonR has been priced between Rs 4.14 lakh to 5.34 lakh. The next-generation model will be having more features, therefore, expect a price increase of around Rs 25,000.
