Interestingly, the European-spec Ignis is 10-15cm longer than the Japanese-spec model. The Indian-spec Ignis will also be shorter in length to fall in the sub-4 meter category. This extra length in the Euro-spec Ignis is added due to larger bumper, therefore, the wheelbase is the same.

Powering the European-spec Maruti Suzuki Ignis is a 1.2-litre Dualjet engine that churns out 91PS of max power. This is the same engine that powers the Baleno and Swift in the European markets. An SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) variant will also be offered. The SHVS system uses an ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) with an integrated power generator, electric motor, and lithium-ion battery pack. Staying true to its roots, the Ignis will feature all-wheel drive powertrain, hill descent control, and safety systems like Dual Camera Braking System (DCBS), and lane management system.

For the Indian market, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis will most likely come with new 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine initially, the same engine that will also power the much awaited Baleno RS. Later on, a diesel engine could also be added for the Ignis. Transmission options will include both 5-Speed manual and an automatic gearbox.
