Toyota Etios and Etios Liva Updated, Launched at Rs 6.43 lakh and Rs 5.24 lakh

Toyota has launched the facelifted Etios Liva and Etios at Rs 5.24 lakh and Rs 6.43 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The refreshed looks come with refreshed names- Etios Platinum and Liva Platinum.

Exterior wise, the 2016 Etios siblings sport a new front fascia. The front design looks sportier due to larger air dams on the either side and the V-shape grille with chrome accents. The fog lamps have been housed near the lower air dams. On the rear, the tail lamps are slightly modified, the bumper is re-sculpted, and chrome accents are added for refreshing the looks. The alloy wheel design now looks much sportier.

Interiors of the Etios sibling is also worked upon. It gets a new instrument console and improved seat design with new upholstery. Also, the rear seats now come with centre armrest.

The updates are not just cosmetic, Toyota has now made the Etios series much safer. ABS has been made standard across all the variants of Etios Platinum and Etios Liva Platinum. The rear seats get ISOFIX child seat mounting points that increase child safety. Not only that, the side impact zones of the car is reinforced as well.

The power units of both the cars remain unchanged. Talking about the petrol variant, the Etios is powered by 1.5-litre engine that makes 90PS of max power and 132Nm of peak torque, the Etios Liva, on the other hand, is powered by 1.2-litre unit that churns out 80PS of max power and 104Nm of peak torque. The 1.4-litre diesel engine churning out 68PS of max power and 170Nm of peak torque is shared by both Etios and Etios Liva. All the variants of the Etios siblings come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, something is new under the hood. The rubber engine mountings are now swapped with the hydraulic mountings for better jerk absorption. Moreover the suspension and clutch are also slightly tweaked.
