Updated Honda City to Make Way to India

It is time to add Honda to our tally of 2017 updates and upgrades of cars. The new edition of Honda City has received a makeover of its exteriors to look rougher as well as more contemporary. This update of the car has currently been launched in Thailand and is priced at around Rs 10.6 lakh, which is 5.5 lakh Baht.

The hue of blue that has been chosen for this version is similar to the Type 2 Honda City’s cobalt blue, which was launched in India. While the changes in its exteriors can be easily spotted, it is difficult to do so in the case of its interiors. It now showcases an all black dashboard with silver highlights but also continues to have the not so appreciated glossy black plaque that holds the touchscreen. Equipment remains mostly untouched, with sunroof, electrically compressible mirrors, rear parking sensors, adjustable steering and split and folding rear seat.

Subtle on the inside, it has a whole bunch of changes on the outside with its front being revamped completely. It follows the same bumper design with the three-part treatment as the freshly updated siblings, Brio and Amaze. the front grille receives a thick mesh, flowing into the headlamps. The air-dam is now black with a horizontal splitter. The LED DRLs are now eye catching when the headlamps are turned on. A sharper appearance has been given to the rear bumper. There is a brand new alloy design which might also be introduced in India.

As far as the Indian market is concerned, it will support the engine that it currently has along with the same gearbox options. ABS and front dual airbags are expected to be standard in order to be compliant to the safety standards that are anticipated to be enforced shortly. This fresh version of Honda City was sighted in a TV commercial being shot in India, indicating how near the launch is. A modest hike in prices can be anticipated, with a starting range of about Rs 8.5 lakh (basic petrol model), climbing up to Rs 13 lakh (top diesel model).
