Volkswagen Ameo gets an Updated Petrol Engine

Last month, Volkswagen replaced the Polo’s 1.2-litre petrol motor with a new 1.0-litre engine. Now, VW has applied the same formula on the Ameo. In the times when consumers and governments expect car manufacturers to make low emission engines, Volkswagen is doing just that with this 1.0-litre petrol engine.

This new 1.0-litre engine develops 75 PS of power and 95 Nm of torque. Comparing to the outgoing 1.2-litre engine, power is down by 1 PS and torque is lagging by 15 Nm. In its segment, the VW Ameo now comes with a least powerful petrol engine. Volkswagen Ameo is also offered with a diesel 1.5-litre engine that is quite grunty. So if performance is what you are after then diesel Ameo looks like an obvious choice. Even luxury car makers like BMW and Mercedes are moving to cleaner engines

Apart from the engine update, rest of the specifications on VW Ameo remain unchanged. The variants, prices and the features are untouched. The prices for the Volkswagen Ameo starts at Rs 5.5 lakh and goes till 9.99 lakh for the fully loaded diesel variant. In the Indian market, the Ameo goes against the cars like Hyundai Xcent, Tata Tigor, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze and the Maruti Swift Dzire.

Volkswagen has also initiated a multi-city roadshow 14th April onwards to market this updated Ameo. This roadshow will cover 250 cities and over 30,000 Km. This marketing campaign started from four states Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Karnataka. This exercise will allow prospective customers to get to know the VW Ameo closely, take test drives and even book the car on the spot.

BSVI fuels are already available in Delhi this month onwards
