Volvo XC40 Bookings Open

Volvo has been killing the game with its latest crop of cars that are futuristic, both in terms of design and technology. While we were waiting eagerly for the launch of Volvo XC40 compact SUV in India, several Volvo India dealers confirmed that Bookings are open for the XC40.

When the Volvo’s flagship SUV, XC90 was introduced in 2014, it shook its competition off the ground and set a tone for Volvo’s design language. The Volvo XC40 shares the same DNA and can be called the best looking in its segment.

What’s its segment? It will compete with cars like Mercedes GLA, BMW X1, and Audi Q3. The price of Volvo XC40 is expected to be around Rs 38 lakh ex-showroom. A Volvo dealer in Delhi confirmed that they are accepting bookings by taking a refundable deposit of Rs 4 lakh. The official launch is expected to happen at the end of June 2018.

Volvo XC40 will be offered in three variants- Momentum, Inscription, and R-Design. The first two variants will come with the workhorse D4 diesel engine that makes 190 PS of power and 400Nm of torque. The R-Design variant is the sportier of the three variant and will only feature a T5 Petrol engine churning out 250 PS of power and 350Nm of torque. Irrespective of the variant, there is just one transmission option- an 8-speed automatic unit. It’s confirmed that XC40 will be offered with AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) function. However, Volvo hasn’t confirmed if the FWD (Front-wheel-drive) version will be offered. Each new Volvo will be hybrid-electric 2019 onwards

being a product of a brand that is renowned for its safety, the XC40 will be equipped with an extensive list of safety features. This includes Pilot Assist system (semi-autonomous driving), Run-off-road protection and mitigation, lane keeping aid, cross traffic alert with brake assist, road sign information, and rear collision warning. This is additional to basic safety features like ABS, Traction control, and multiple Airbags.
