2018 Hyundai Santro Launching in October

Few days back a Hyundai Hatchback was spied testing wearing heavy camouflage. Our guess was that it’s the new i10 or Santro.

Now Car blog India has reported that they have confirmed information on new 2018 Hyundai Santro getting launched in October 2018. They also said that their dealer source has indicated that the pricing of the 2018 Hyundai Santro will start around Rs 2.99 lakh. 2018 Santro was getting developed for a long time with a codename AH2.

Our best guess is that the new Santro will be the replacement for the Hyundai Eon. The “Santro” brand name is popular in India because the 1st-gen Santro that was introduced in 1998 was a huge success. Hyundai India would definitely want to leverage this.

Hyundai India has been quite vocal about its plans of launching a new hatchback this year. But they never told us when exactly.

If prices fall between the range of Rs 2.99 to Rs 5 lakhs, then it will compete with hatchbacks like Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R, Alto, Renault KWID, Tata Tiago, and Ford Figo.

Hyundai is expected to preview this car in front of the media in the first week of October. And it’s quite possible that the 2018 Hyundai Santro will be launched in India in the last week of October 2018. This should be a good time for a car launch because the India festive season will be in full swing. Indian car market sees a upward trend during this time due to high demand.

Lookwise, we expect to see an increase in overall dimensions. At the front, there will be Hyundai hexagonal grill with swept-back headlights. The rear of the car will closely resemble the Grand i10.

There is not much information about the interiors of the new Santro. However, we can expect to see a dual tone dashboard, a touchscreen unit in the centre console, and beige fabric seats.

The optional features could include steering mounted audio buttons, infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, powered wing mirrors, and parking sensors.
