Ford Figo and Figo Aspire Launched in Sports Edition

Ford India added some excitement to the Figo and Figo Aspire line-up by adding a limited-edition Sports Edition variant. Launched in 2015, these two models has contributed a lot to company’s performance. However, the sales have declined by 3.54% in the FY16-17 where 36,141 units were sold. To revive the interest of customers, Ford Figo Sports Edition and Figo Aspire Sports are launched.

The Sports Edition package adds retuned suspension and other cosmetic changes to the Titanium trim of the Figo. The Figo S costs Rs 6,31,900 for the Petrol variant and Rs 7,21,600 for the diesel engine, while the Aspire S comes priced from Rs 6,50,900 for the petrol and Rs 7,60,600 for the diesel (both ex-showroom, Delhi).  Compared to the standard Titanium models on which they are based, Figo S commands extra Rs 50,000 while the Aspire S costs around Rs 34,000 more.

On the outside, the Figo S get a new black mesh grille upfront, while the Aspire continues with the regular grille. The headlights on both the cars are smoked out. The roof and the rear view mirrors gets a black treatment. Then there is a set of 15-inch alloy wheel that is powder coated black on the figo, but retains the shiny finish on the Figo Aspire. Wrapped around those rims are upsized 195/55R15 tyres. Inside, the only thing extra on the Sports Edition in red stitching on the seat, otherwise it still has a all-black theme dashboard. The engines and their power output is similar to the standard models. The 1.2-litre Petrol engine makes 90 PS of power and 112 Nm of torque. The diesel engine on the other hand churns out 100 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque. The Sports Edition is only offered with a 5-Speed manual gearbox.

Anurag Mehrotra, executive director (Marketing, Sales & Service) of Ford India, said, “Since their launch, both the Figo and Aspire have set new benchmarks in the segment – from the maximum airbags-on-offer to lowest cost of service. The launch of Sports Editions is yet another stride in our commitment to introduce products that customers want and value and will help us further strengthen our position in in the segment and industry at large.”
