Skoda Octavia RS 230, the performance orientated variant of the Octavia is now launched in India. We have previously seen the RS badge on a boot of a first-gen Octavia and then on the Laura. What’s different this time is that the Octavia RS 230 makes significantly more power than the standard car. The price of the Octavia RS 230 has been kept at Rs 24.63 Lakh (ex-showroom). The Octavia RS and the Kodiaq were unveiled last month for India (Read about it here).
Engine & Gearbox
The 230 suffix means just that; it makes 230 PS of power between 5500-to-6300 rpm from a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine. Accompanying it is 350 Nm of torque generated between 1500-4500 rpm. This results in 0-100 kph time of just 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 250kph. The engine comes mated to a 6-Speed DSG automatic gearbox.
Other Performance Updates
The performance enhancements over the standard car are not limited to the engine. In fact, the Octavia RS 230 rides 15mm lower than the standard car and also gets an XDS+ limited slip differential so that it can put the power down more effectively. Some other extras on the RS variant consist of full LED lighting, and upgraded infotainment system.
The car shows its sporty origins with details like wide honeycomb grille, bigger 17-inch anthracite alloy wheels, rear spoiler, and trapezoidal dual exhaust tips. The Skoda Octavia RS 230 is offered in four paint schemes- Candy White, Steel Grey, Race Blue, and Corrida Red.
Step inside, and you will be amazed by the true sportscar-like Alcantara upholstery. The cabin follows the all-black styling with minimal silver inserts. The seats apart from being wrapped in Alcantara, also has a different design. There is a lot more side bolstering to hold the passenger in place while taking fast corners. The leather-wrapped steering wheel gets paddle shifters along with several control buttons for radio and telephony. One can also change the ambient lighting inside the cabin and select from ten different light tones.
If SUVs are your thing then Bookings for the Skoda Kodiaq is also open!
