twitter accounts for car lovers

With millions of tweets every day, sorting out the quality information from the banal and the plain strange could be incredibly time-consuming, not to mention dull. One thing is for sure, no matter which aspect of driving you are interested in, you are bound to find over a hundred Twitter feeds on every subject.

However, there are some tweets which always grab attention and somehow always get more attention and followers than anyone else, so to save you time, we got Emily from bigmotoringworld.co.uk on the case to compile her list of the five top Twitter accounts you need to be watching for all things motoring:

Motoring celebrities

If you are looking to stay on top of the latest motoring gossip, reviews, news and perhaps the more tongue-in-cheek side of the world, then you might want to follow some of the top celebrities associated with the world of motoring – and they aren’t necessarily the first names that would spring to mind:

JEREMY CLARKSON | @JeremyClarkson

The renowned former Top Gear presenter and motoring expert has more than seven million followers on Twitter and counting. His tweets and updates attract thousands of likes and retweets on a daily basis. He talks about driving in London, his life, and of course, cars on his feed – you are sure to be entertained by his iconic and singular outlook on all things motoring. JERRY SEINFELD | @JerrySeinfeld

While a comedian might not seem the obvious Twitter celebrity to follow for driving, if you check out his timeline for posts labeled Seinfeld: CCC – it is a free online show he has created called “Comedians in cars getting coffee” and it’s free to watch. He picks up a classic car and then takes other comedians out for a drive, a chat and lots of laughs. He has around 4 million followers so far.

Humorous look at the world of motoring

If you are looking at the world of motoring in a more humorous way and if you already like Jeremy Clarkson, then check out this account – it’s not an obvious one but it is well worth following for a sartorial outlook on the world of motoring.

SNIFF PETROL | @sniffpetrol

This Twitter account is run by Richard Porter who used to write the scripts for Top Gear. His stories provide a breath of fresh air in the car industry without taking the subject too seriously. He has a humorous outlook on the motoring industry providing sharp insights for his 76,800 followers.

Traditional information site

If what you are looking for is more information-focused than fun, then check out the Sunday Times Driving Twitter feed which is intended to be a total motoring resource center, although with some excellent writing thrown in so it’s far from dull.

Sunday Times Driving | @ST_Driving

The Sunday Times Driving Twitter feed has over 11,000 followers and describes itself as the ultimate one-stop-resource for researching and buying all types of cars online. The account features numerous top motoring journalists, including writing from Jeremy Clarkson.

The future of motoring

While not strictly a motoring account, followers of Elon Musk are keen to learn about his plans and ventures into the future of motoring, and where better to find out than via his Twitter feed. The Tesla co-founder is definitely one to watch if you are into future technologies and electronic motoring.

Elon Musk | @elonmusk

With the recent successful launch of his own car into space on his own rocket, eccentric entrepreneur Elon Musk is one to watch for his drive to create desirable electric cars. The Tesla co-founders’ tweets provides his 19.7 million followers with an insight into his passion and drive for space travel, solar power, and electric cars.

Of course there are plenty of other driving-related and motorist-related Twitter accounts out there, it all depends on what you are interested in, but hopefully, our top five will provide a broad range of motoring news and entertainment to get you started.

Whether you follow Clarkson’s unique voice and take on the world of motoring or opt for Elon Musk’s futuristic world of space travel and electric cars, all of these will keep motoring fans entertained for hours.

From coffee with Seinfeld to searching for your perfect used car using the Sunday Times Twitter resource centre, the danger is that even just following these five accounts will lead you to lose hours and hours of precious time from your day as you end up watching endless videos, reading articles and sharing information with other fans. But you won’t complaint about it, that’s for sure.
