Yamaha FZ25: India Unveil on 24th January?
India Yamaha sent a “Block your date” invites for a press conference that will be on 24th of January. This event will most likely be the unveiling of a new 250cc entry-level performance naked offering from Yamaha. Rumoured to be called the FZ25, the company is aiming to “introduce a new chapter” in Indian motorcycling scene.
The Japanese manufacturer did not say much information about the bike. Even the dealers are unaware of the details or specifications of the FZ25. The launch of FZ25 is a high possibility because recently a Yamaha test mule was spotted on the road, and it had a silhouette of an FZ series motorcycle with a performance orientation.
The design inspiration for the spotted bike seems to be taken from the FZ-S and the M-Slaz that is offered to the South Asian market. The bike is equipped with edgy and compact bikini fairing that is located between the forks. The headlight unit is equipped with LED setup with daytime running lamps (DRLs). Its muscular design and aggressive stance points toward its sporty character.
The motorcycle is expected to be powered by a single-cylinder engine that is found in Fazer 250 in the Brazilian market. This 249cc engine is oil-cooled and fuel-injected. It puts out 20.7PS of maximum power and 20.4Nm of maximum torque. The 5-speed gearbox is coupled with the engine to put down the power. The chassis of the bike will feature telescopic forks at the front and monoshock at the back. The braking duties should be handled by disc brakes at the front and rear.
The pricing of the FZ25 is expected to be around Rs 1.5 lakh. And in India, it will compete with bikes like Bajaj Dominar 4o0, Mahindra Mojo, and KTM Duke.
