Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has launched yet another scooter in India- Honda Cliq. This 110cc scooter based on the Activa’s platform is priced at Rs 42,499 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Honda Cliq is developed with an utilitarian purpose in mind. This scooter should be rugged, practical, comfortable, and offer convenience in day to day life. The company wants to introduce Cliq in a phased manner. Therefore, Rajasthan will be the first state where the Honda Cliq will be sold. It’s expected that the Cliq will be available across the country before the festive season. Honda Cliq will be manufactured at company’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.
The design of the Honda Cliq also has an utilitarian feel to it. It’s made for a practicality, so you get bigger footboard and larger underseat storage of 14-litres. If all that space in not enough for you then one can also get an optional rear carrier. The weight of the Cliq is just 102kg, which is 8kg lighter than the Honda Active and equal to the Navi. With ruggedness in mind, the Cliq is shod with block pattern tubeless tyres with deep grooves for extra grip and control in the versatile environment. This scooter can be had in four colours- Morrocan Blue, Orcus Grey, Patriot Red, and Black.
Engine and Safety-
The workhorse in the Honda Cliq is the same 110cc single cylinder BS-4 engine that propels the Activa and Navi. This engine produces 8 bhp at 7,000 rpm and 8.94 Nm of torque. Being utilitarian does not mean that the Honda has cut corners regarding safety. The Honda Cliq is equipped with Combi-Braking System (CBS) that evenly distributes the braking force on the front and rear wheels even if you press just one lever. It also gets a maintenance free battery.
Explaining more about the concept of Cliq, Minoru Kato – President and CEO, HMSI said, “Six out of 10 two-wheelers sold in India belong to 100-110cc segment. Within this segment, automatic scooters have witnessed tremendous growth and now count for almost half of the total size. With the highly increasing demand and varied customer needs, this segment is poised to sub-segmentation. As the leaders of scooter category, Honda has developed CLIQ which would address the needs of customers with the added value of comfort and convenience.”
Who is it for?
The company says that it’s a unisex scooter. And the new riders will themselves comfortable with its low seat height, light weight, easy to handle nature. For the smartphone generation, there is a mobile charging port also.
