Hyundai Elite i20 CVT Automatic Variants Launched

The facelifted Hyundai Elite i20 was launched at this year’s Auto Expo and became a top contender in its segment. Now, looking at the success, Hyundai has added CVT automatic variants to the i20 range. Hyundai i20 CVT comes in two variants-

Elite i20 Magna Executive CVT, Price @ Rs 7.04 lakh
Elite i20 Asta CVT, Priced @ Rs 8.16 lakh (ex-showroom prices)

Looking at the pricing we can note that CVT variants command a premium of around Rs 1 lakh over the manual counterparts. (We compared the previous i20 CVT against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz CVT)

Engine

Hyundai i20 with manual transmission comes with two engine options- 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel. However, the CVT variant of i20 is only offered with the petrol engine. This 1.2-litre Kappa dual VTVT engine makes 84 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque. Previously model of i20 CVT use to come with a 1.4-litre engine but current 1.2-litre engine helped with the competitive pricing due to tax benefit for sub-4 meter car with engine size limited to 1.2-litre.

Equipment Levels

The equipment levels on the CVT variant to i20 is similar to the manual variants. Hyundai offers well-packaged features which include power windows, 2-DIN music controller, electric side mirrors, and safety features like dual airbags, ABS, and EBD. The fully loaded Asta variant gets additional equipment like reverse parking camera and parking sensors, 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Climate control, fully adjustable steering wheel, and height adjustment for driver seat.

Asta (O) not offered with CVT

The top of the range variant for the manual i20- Asta (O) is not offered with the CVT gearbox because then the price would have shot above Rs 9 lakhs. Asta (0) is equipped with extras like six airbags, LED Projector lights with DRLs, keyless entry, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
