News Leak: Jeep Renegade Launching in 2018
As we count days for the Jeep Compass launch date in August this year, Jeep officials have revealed that the its new model Renegade will arrive in 2018. This is not a surprise because we have spied both of them together last year when it was in the test phase (Click here to Read about it). Jeep Renegade is the entry-level SUV in the US market, where its offered in 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrain with four variants- Sport, Latitude, Altitude, and Trailhawk.
This model has an adventurous and playful looks. While Wrangler offers the true Jeep experience, the Renegade seems to more refined and modern version of it. Inspite of having a raw image, the Renedage is loaded with upmarket materials and hosts of equipment like five-inch colour touch-screen, Uconnect 5.0 Bluetooth, USB & AUX input, iPod dock, voice command, six-speaker stereo, and not to forget, rear camera, Panoramic roof, and blind spot mirrors in upper variants.
As some of you know, the upcoming Jeep Compass shares its platform with the Renegade. Moreover, the engine options are also very similar. In US, Renegade is offered with two engine options- 1.4-litre MultiAir turbocharged petrol engine which produces 160PS of power and 250Nm of torque, and 2.4-litre Petrol engine making 180PS of power and 237Nm of torque. The 1.4-litre engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, whereas the 2.4-litre engine gets 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The company has not said anything about the pricing and the spec of the Renegade in India. But, its safe to presume that the engine options and variants will be carried over from the Compass. As for the pricing, it should sit below the Compass. Like the Compass, the Renegade is also expected to be manufactured at the company’s Pune plant.
