Tata Nexon Compact SUV | Competition- Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Brezza | Expected price- Rs 6.8 to 10 lakh
Tata Motor’s most awaited car of the year is the Nexon. Tata Nexon is a compact SUV like the Ford Ecosport. Now, the company has started the production of the Tata Nexon at its Ranjangaon plant. The first production ready Tata Nexon rolled out of the plant on 20th July and company’s MD and President of the passenger vehicle business were present on this special occasion.
Tata Nexon will start getting delivered to the dealership across the country so that potential customers can experience this car. The official launch of the Tata Nexon is slated for 2017 festive season. Its primary competition in the market is with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Ford EcoSport. It follows the design language of the Tata Tigor sedan.
A couple of days before, the company released the side profile teaser and engine specifications of the Nexon. The Nexon will come with 2 engine options- Petrol 1.2-litre, 3 cylinder Revotron engine and a Diesel 1.5-litre, 4 cylinder Revotorq motor. The petrol engine makes 110 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque between 2,000 to 4,000 rpm. The diesel engine also makes 110 PS of power but its torque number stands higher at 260 Nm, that it makes between 1,500 to 2,750 rpm. Tata is promising “unrivalled fuel efficiency’’ with the Nexon.
The power numbers generated by these engines are stronger than its competition. The drivability and refinement of these engines can only be judged after driving the car. The Tata Nexon seems to be a promising product that has the potential to rule the compact SUV segment.
The cars in this segment are now starting to get old. Therefore, this is a good time to attack the market. The Pricing of the Tata Nexon will be announced shortly. But, we expect it to be between Rs 6.8 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Tata’s Mainstream SUV, Hexa is doing pretty well (Read more about Tata Hexa)
