Design
Volvo XC60 takes inspiration from its elder sibling- the XC90. It has that same straight line design but with little bit more curves. The LED headlights have the same ‘Thor’s hammer’ shape with DRL (daytime running lights) functionality. Like all Volvos, the front chrome grille has a big Volvo logo. The Swedish design continues onto the sides with muscular rear fender line and a curvy door line that extends till the headlights. The 19-inch alloy wheels look purposeful. The rear of the car features sleek LED lights but ends up looking a bit like VW Tiguan. Dimension-wise, it’s 44mm longer, 11mm wider, and 55mm lower than before. There are four colour options: Crystal white pearl, Black max, Havana brown, and Pine grey.
Powertrain
There is only one engine option in India- 2.0-litre, 4 cylinder, turbocharged diesel. This engine is good for 235PS of power and 480 Nm of torque. Although the 2.0-litre engine sounds normal, these power figures are the best in the segment. The XC60 utilises an 8-Speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels. There are five driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Dynamic, Off-road, and individual.
Interiors
What makes a Volvo unique is its minimalistic Swedish design language inside the car. The interior of the car is loaded with premium materials like Nappa leather, wood, and metal. There is a 9-inch Sensus infotainment touchscreen which controls almost everything in the car. Some of the luxuries include- electrically adjustable front seats with massaging function, 4-zone climate control, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, 15-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system, Panoramic sunroof, etc. There are three interior shades to choose from- Amber, Maroon brown, and Blond
Safety
One cannot write about Volvo without mentioning its safety systems. It comes loaded with lane assist, blind spot detection, dynamic bending LED lights, 360 view Parking camera, and radar-based adaptive cruise control.
Competition
Volvo XC60 falls in the same segment as the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, and the Lexus NX 300h.
