Maruti Suzuki Ciaz S Launched (Sportier variant)

Maruti Suzuki has added a sportier variant to the Ciaz range- the Ciaz S. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is a proven market leader when it comes to C segment cars. The Ciaz S trim can be had with petrol or a diesel engine. The pricing for the Petrol powered Maruti Suzuki Ciaz S has been kept at Rs 9.39 lakh (ex-showroom). Whereas the diesel powered Maruti Ciaz S can be had for Rs 11.55 lakh. Read about why Ciaz got costlier after GST.

What distinguishes the Ciaz S from the regular variant?

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz S comes with a racier body kit that also includes a rear spoiler. Then there is a slightly premium cabin space. In 2015, the Ciaz RS variant was introduced that featured a trunk lid spoiler. However, the Ciaz S now has a lot more sporty cosmetic elements. The rear bumper is beefier with muscular lines, the front bumper has under spoilers, and the rear spoiler is also more prominent now.

R S Kalsi Senior Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, commented, “Ciaz has established itself as one of the most progressive brands of Maruti Suzuki and has sold over 1.70 lakh units of Ciaz cumulative since its launch in October 2014. The introduction of Ciaz S will further strengthen the position of Ciaz in the market by catering to the requirements of a younger yet premium customer who believes in the sporty spirit of life.”

How loaded is the Maruti Ciaz S?

As far as the feature list is concerned, the Ciaz S is based on the Alpha variant of the regular Ciaz. Since Ciaz Alpha variant is the fully-loaded variant, the feature list is a long one. It comes with touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, cruise control, AC climate control, etc. Inside the car, the seats are upholstered in all-black leather and the dashboard has metallic inserts.

Safety features include Dual-Airbag for the front passengers, ABS, EBD, seat belt pre-tensioner, and ISOFIX mount (for mounting child seat at the rear).

Engine and Gearbox-

The mechanicals of the car remains similar. The petrol engine is a 1.4-litre unit churning out 92 PS of power and 130NM of torque. On the other hand, the diesel engine is a 1.3-litre workhorse making 89 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. The petrol engine can be had with either a 5-Speed manual gearbox or a 4-Speed automatic unit (i20 automatic vs Ciaz automatic). The diesel Ciaz S is only offered with 5-Speed manual transmission (why Dzire ZDi+ is not a good buy due to Ciaz).
