Design of new BMW 5-Series
From the outside, the 5-Series takes inspiration from the new 7-Series. Although the changes might look subtle, they go skin deep. The chassis, for instance, is completely revised and uses materials like magnesium, aluminium, and high-strength steel. The dimensions of the car is increased for better cabin space. Even then, BMW managed to shave 100kg of weight from the car. Like the 7-Series, it also gets LED Headlights, optional Adaptive LED lights, adaptive dampers, anti-dazzle high beam that can allow a viewing range of half a kilometre.
Interiors
The interiors of new BMW 5-Series are also completely changed. One will find latest gadgetries like iDrive 6.0 infotainment, gesture control, voice control, heads-up digital display, and multi-contour massage seats. BMW also claims that the cabin is now quieter than ever thanks to extensive use of sound-deadening materials. The music aficionados will be happy with the optional Harman Kardon 600-watt 16-speaker sound system.
Engine Options
The BMW 5-Series will be offered with three engine options in India- 520d, 530d, and 530i. The 520d is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel motor that makes 190PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. The 530d utillises a 3.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 265 PS of power and 620 NM of torque. The only petrol option- 530i gets a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine churning 252 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. All the engine are mated to a proven 8-Speed Automatic gearbox.
