Honda CR-V at one point was India’s beloved SUV. There was nothing like that in the market that brings combined the drivability of a sedan with the usability of an SUV. However, as the Petrol prices kept rising, people started drifting away from the CR-V. We are expecting to see the all-new 5th-gen Honda CR-V at the 2018 Auto Expo. The 5th-Gen Honda CR-V was unveiled in Detroit last year
Now, Honda is planning to bring the updated 2018 CR-V to India, that too with a Diesel engine. What’s better is that the new CR-V is now a proper 7-Seater SUV. Powering the new Honda CR-V will be a 1.6-litre Diesel engine that makes 160 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. This engine is manufactured in Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, India. Presently, this engine is being exported to Thailand where it powers the all-new CR-V that comes in 2WD and 4WD configuration.
What did Honda India say?
The company has not officially stated when the diesel CR-V will arrive in India. But, they did mention about doing a premium segment launch next year. This makes us believe that it’s the new CR-V that they are talking about.
Honda CR-V Engine Options and Mileage-
The 1.6-litre diesel engine in the new CR-V is mated to a Shift-by-Wire 9-Speed Automatic transmission. This combination promises excellence fuel mileage of 18.9 kmpl in the Thai market. For the Petrol variant, Honda will most likely use the 2.4-litre engine that was there in the previous CR-V. This engine develops 190 PS of power and 226 Nm of torque.
Interiors of new Honda CR-V-
Inside the biggest change is that there are 7-seats instead of 5-seat configuration. The dashboard is also redesigned and there is extensive use of soft-touch plastics. As with all the new vehicles, there is touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for syncing mobile phones. The instrument cluster of the SUV is very similar to the new Civic. The feature list includes remote engine start, dual-zone climate control, electric parking brake, and electrically adjustable front seats.
