KTM To Bring Husqvarna India In 2019
As Bajaj and KTM celebrate their 10 years of partnership, KTM CEO confirms of bringing in Husqvarna India
Bajaj and KTM have had a profitable tie up. Now, Stefan Pierer has said that Husqvarna is also coming to India. He also says that Bajaj’s Chakan plant will start building the Husqvarna’s 125-400cc bikes. But, eventually, the Indian bike maker will have to set up a new plant.
Bajaj currently produces about 95,000 KTM bikes every year ranging from 125 Duke/RC 125 to 390 Duke/RC 390. Pierer expects that number to grow to 1.9 lakh in the next 5 years. The Swedish bikes will also use the same engines but in a slightly different state of tune to suit their character. The production will start in 2019 and India will most likely be among the first countries to get the new bikes.

Husqvarna India – Vitpilen 401 Cafe Racer
The Vitpilen will be a cafe racer bike from Husqvarna India. There’s a sharp spike in demand for stylish, neo-retro bikes in our country in the recent years. We already have the Triumph Thruxton and Royal Enfield Continental GT. Norton Commando, Dominator and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 are also coming soon.
Husqvarna India – Swartpilen 401 Scrambler
The Swartpilen 401 is the slightly off-road oriented bike. Just like the Ducati Scrambler, it’s not a real off-road bike. For that, you have to buy the Scrambler Desert Sled. Swartpilen’s higher handlebars and dual-purpose tyres will make it easier to manage off-road. But, the limited suspension travel will keep you away from the rocky terrain. This one is good for only mild dirt riding but is one hell of a looker. It’ll join Triumph Street Scrambler and the Ducati Scrambler in India.
Price Of Husqvarna India Bikes
Rs. 2.0-2.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
The two bikes will get the same 373cc single-cylinder engine as the 390 Duke. Unlike KTM bikes, performance won’t be the key criterion here. The style will play a bigger role.
We are expecting to see price tags that are either on par with the KTM bikes or slightly higher. Husqvarna India will also produce its 125cc, 200cc and 250cc bikes here for exports.
Vitpilen 401 & Swartpilen 401 Specs:

Torque 37Nm
6-speed gearbox
Ground Clearance 170mm
