KTM 390 Adventure Launching in India Next Year
KTM Adventure India launch in the scheduled for next year. It could be unveiled for the first time at the EICMA 2018.
Adventure touring motorcycle segment is picking up in India, and while you are getting excited about the BMW G310 GS opened Bookings, let’s not forget the KTM. Yes, KTM has also been working on a lightweight adventure touring motorcycle for quite some time. This motorcycle is based on the KTM Duke 390 and has been named the KTM 390 Adventure. The Royal Enfield Himalayan was the first lightweight adventure bike to test the waters in India. The Himalayan showed the Indian motorcycle market has huge potential for value for money adventure motorcycles. KTM has now confirmed that the 390 Adventure will arrive next year in India to take on the BMW G310 GS.
From the start, KTM had a strategy to use Duke 390’s platform for different kind of motorcycles. We have seen the fully faired version of it, the KTM RC390. Now, with the launch of 390 Adventure, the picture will get complete. Not to forget, we have Duke 200, Duke 250 and RC200 also sharing the components. This kind of strategy allowed KTM to keep their input cost low and price their model competitively.
KTM 390 Adventure Test Mule was Spied
The 390 Adventure test mule was first spotted in 2016 in Europe. Back then the motorcycle looked crude and in the initial stages for testing. A much-refined test mule was spotted again last year in October. We expect KTM to unveil this 390 Adventure at the 2018 EICMA motorcycle show in November 2018. KTM says that “their upcoming model will provide the motorcycle-touring community a state-of-the-art package to ride long distances and conquer any terrain”. It’s obvious that the KTM 390 Adventure will sit in the line-up with 1290 Super Adventure. And the Austrian brand has confirmed that the styling and purpose of the 390 Adventure is inspired by the top of the line 1290 Adventure.
Our Expectations from the KTM 390 Adventure
As it’s using the platform of Duke 390, we know that 390 Adventure will feature equipment like multifunction TFT Colour display, ABS, and maybe riding modes. The Tank capacity of Duke is not sufficient therefore the 390 Adventure will have a bigger 16 liter plus fuel tank capacity. Being an adventure bike, the suspension will have longer travel. When launched in India next year, Expect the pricing of around Rs 3 lakh ex-showroom.
