BMW Updates its Petrol Engines to BSVI and Launches Shadow Edition 3-Series

As the India is moving towards cleaner fuels, BMW has updated its petrol offering to comply with BS-VI emission norms. This makes BMW the only car maker with maximum number of BS-V1 compliant vehicles. This includes 3-series, 5-Series, X3, X5 and more.

Previously, its competitor Mercedes-Benz made the move to offer BS-VI compliant S-Class 350d which uses a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder diesel engine. Diesel vehicle requires more modification to the meet the strict emissions norms, while Petrol engines require little updates. So far, the BS-VI fuel is only available in Delhi/NCR region and the rest of the country will switch to this cleaner fuel by 1st April 2020 when meeting BS-VI norm becomes mandatory.
